ONE POINT DARES

woah.. feels like i havent blogged in ages..

just got back from the hongkong 2am this morning.. it was gReat.. =) 4 solid days of heavenly food and shopping..

even tho the first day dint start off as exciting as what i envisioned it to be.. but things just got better day by day.. and surprisingly the best place to shop wasnt in kowloon or hongkong island but at shenzhen, which was jus a mere 40min train ride from hongkong island.. much more variety, at a better price tag..

well, food and shopping aside, i must mention tt hongkong do have quite a number of hot chicks toooo... 'nuff said. i deserve it all... =)

ok anyway, haevnt quite unpacked my luggage yet.. whole house's in a meSs.. really dusty and messy... guess its really inevitable during renovation.. another week or so before it's all done.. anywayy gotta get to bed.. gng back to work tmr morning..

was totally swept off my feet by busy schedules for the past few months,
countless rehearsals and endless requests to see to.
event organizing is indeed very interesting and fun but sometimes it just drains the very last bit of energy in you. seeping you dry like a thirsty sponge.
time seems to fly when ur busy. felt like a blizzard storm had just hit the coast and now the skies are all cleared again. =)
glad tt eth went as planned and ended on a pretty nice note.

it's been a lonely and quiet 10+years for singapore soccer.. ever wondered how's lim tong hai or supersub steven tan and abbas saad doing?? what happened to all the glory and passion we had? it's undeniably been a rough road since S-league started or rather after we got booted out of the malaysian league.. the stadiums used to be filled with fans and supporters during the 1994 malaysian cup.. but hey.. where's everyone now?

so you see, over the weekend me and some of my friends decided to go watch the singapore Vs malaysia causeway challenge match.. and to my surprise the stadium was barely half filled.. but i must say, it was an exciting match..

Anyway, the thought of the National Stadium being torn down was a lil heartache.. its like this significant landmark tt's always been there ever since i was a kid.. so u know, it's sad.

Moving on, just why on earth does my army allowance evaporate so fast? i want a pretty keychain..! still waiting for my pay to arrive before i can go savage some lefovers from the Great Singapore Sales.. urgh. oh well mum bought me a nice pair of tennis shoes tho.. =)

started off the day on a rather hasty note, kinda woke up a lil late for my wisdom tooth surgery.. parents were having their breakfast, while i quickly ran to the bathroom for my shower(first one of the day).. five minute of scrubbing was all i took and an additional ten minutes was all i needed to get dressed and ready to go..

reached there 5minutes later than the scheduled appointment time.. 0835am. registered my name and sat by the magazine rack.. was flipping and scanning thru the lastest issues in town.. and it looks like i've been missing out on so many new accesories/gadgets/gossips/babes... u get the idea.

anyway the surgery dint take too long.. am already feeling better. =)

yup. a lot to catch up this week... 5days MC.. gonna do something constructive with it at home..

its been 6months since the day i was enlisted for national service. enlistment, something tt i was never once looking forward to. reluctance to serve. but tt day still came inevitably.

tt dreadful day when i had to lug my baggage to pulau tekong. time jus seem to pass so fast tt morning, the cramped up Trans Island Bus (TIBS) shuttle services, the long queues at the ferry terminal and even the bumpy ferry ride there, time just slipped by me. was it the pure reluctance to serve or was it because i knew i was a step closer to losing my pink i/c and needless to say, my freedom. either ways, it dint work out for me.

but i knew it was no-way-out.

basic military training or better known as BMT, the army conversion course. i guess the hardest part of getting used to army life wasnt the physical training or the same old stale cookhouse food, but more of the regimental way everything has to be done. the system was rigid, uncompromising and unforgiving, anything done otherwise would be severely punished.

people always say every singaporean boy has got to go thru army to be a man. they say. but is it really true? u decide. but it did taught me some important life lessons though. cherish my freedom(or the lack of it), love my family & appreciating my friends. in short, dun jus take simple things for granted. for it's those simple gestures tt make life so much more beautiful.

but at the end of the day, u know its all for a good cause.

Passing Out Parade

Today marks the end of my Basic Section Leader Course.

Got a little emotional towards the end.

Was sad that one of our close section-mates had to be seperated from the rest of us.

We were like brothers,

Always taking care of one another.

These 12weeks of training could have been shit&hell.

But instead we made a piece of cake out of it.

The mutual understanding and chemistry was simply great.

But now that some of us will be taking a different route of advancement.

Top 10 Scale Tips

1) Weigh yourself with clothes on, after dinner. As well as in the morning, without clothes, before breakfast, because it's nice to see how much weight you've lost overnight.

2) Never weigh yourself with wet hair.

3) When weighing, remove everything, including glasses. In this case, blurred vision is an asset. Don't forget the earrings, these things can weigh at least a pound.

4) Use cheap scales only, never the medical kind, because they are always five pounds off to your advantage, of course.

5) Always go to the bathroom first.

6) Stand with arms raised, making pressure on the scale lighter.

7) Don't eat or drink in the morning until AFTER you've weighed in, completely naked, of course.

8) Weigh yourself after a haircut, this is good for at least half a pound of hair (hopefully).

9) Exhale with all your might BEFORE stepping onto the scale (air has to weigh something, right?)

10) Start out with just one foot on the scale, then holding onto the towel rack in front of you, slowly edge your other foot on and slowly let off of the rack. Admittedly, this takes time, but it's worth it. You will weigh at least two pounds less than if you'd stepped on normally...

for 2 weeks in a row.. i was on outfield training.. first up was my field camp and then situational test.. one right after the other...

2weeks of being outfield certainly was a lil tough for me at first.. never did i felt so dirty in my life before.. dint get to shower for like so many days... and i really hated the smell of combat ration.. just felt like puking at the sight of it... and sleeping on uneven grounds certainly did not feel right.. my back aches like crazy when u wake up every morning...

but well... i guess u'll kinda adapt to it after sometime.. towards the end of the first week... i slowly got used to the outfield conditions and all.. started to learn to eat combat ration a bit at a time.. and by the end of the 2nd week... i kinda got used to it.. well... nt tt i like it very much but at least i'm fine with living on it for a couple of weeks...
hmmm... maybe this is wad progressive training is all about..

anyway.. one of the most memorable things about field camp...hmmm....
i think it has to be digging shell scrapes and fire trenches.. not only is it helll tiring but it can also be a rather foul smelling event as I have discovered... it's one thing to smell your own sweat.. it's another to smell your own sweat from yesterday and the day before... plus all that natural earthen compost that got onto your uniform when you're deep in your trench... it's nt very pleasant smelling..and if the previous batch are screwed up.. they'll shit in their trenches before covering it up and when u dig the trench the smell gets soOo bad tt u jus wanna fart on the muthafu*ker's face..

but oh well.. being outfield certainly has it's fair share of fun too.. weird it may sound but i really like to camouflage and conceal myself.. hahah... not jus the part where u find those tall shrubs and pink flowers to put on ur helmet and stuff weed into ur pockets to look like swamp-thing... but i also enjoy painting my face with camo facepaint.. hahah... u people must be thinking tt i'm nuts... but hey.. camo facepaint can really be quite memorable...

and as for sitest (situational test) the most memorable thing has definitely gotta be the snake bite... got bitten by a snake on the last day of sitest and was forced to fall out... it was ard 0500 in the morning and i was still sleeping in my tent.. when i suddenly felt a sHarp bite in my back.... and i sprung out of my tent and was shone the torch but i saw nothing.. but the pain jus grew really bad... burning sensation ard the bite mark... immediately went over to the medic and was emergency evacuated back to the medical centre... the swelling was very fast and my pulse was too high blood pressure was too low and a fever was developing.. so i went into the medical bay on 1st priority... but in the end.. it was nothing too serious... thank god it wasn't venomous.. and the fang marks were about 1cm apart so tt's nt too big a snake... wHat aN exprieNce..

anyway my last 16days at tekong wasn't too bad..training was tough.. route march, close combat trainings, endurance runs, physical trainings, rifle handling tests, rifle range test... some fun some nt so fun.. but oh well.. tough training dun last, tough man do.. hahahah... :) BUT i really hate the "stand-by bed/area/universe" sessions tho... really screwed up... 4times in 2 weeks.. wtf. but oh well.. army is nt as bad as i expected. i must say it has it's fair share of fun and joy too.

my platoon mates are well.. nt too bad.. BUT my section's hell fun. buncha fricking funny assholes.. my new found friends.. will write bout them another time.

woah.. lotsa things to say but.. well.. weekend time is precious.. will try to update more tonight.. hope to hear frm u folks too... :) actually the 16days past dint seem 16days long... it seems like i only got enlisted a couple of days out and i'm out... i've gotta say tt the army has improved a lot. in terms of soldiers' welfare..

welll well well.. after 5long months.. I'll finally be enlisted this Thursday(30sept)..it's time for me to venture forth to protect my motherland... well.. nt like I've got a choice.. feeling a lil sad and worried but also excited and nervous as I step into this new phase of my life..
preparations were terrible. haven't been training for months.. stamina's gone.. morale's low.. shyte.. definitely nt one of those better days..

lil sad tt I dint have the chance to meet up with some friends.. gosh.. feeling a lil emotional as I��m writing this entry.. argh fuck..

kinda hated the idea of having to waste 2 years of my youth in the army at first.. but oh well..

3years. we've officially graduated.

for all the sleepless nights and burnt weekends we spent rushing reports and projects.. for all the tedious preparations and last minute studying for tests and exams.. i must say it wasnt an easy road.. but in spite of tt.. we've come a long way... and we've made it.. i'd like to congratulate all my fellow lecture mates who have successfully graduated too. yEay. :)

well.. now tt we all embark on a new phase of our lives.. i wish all of you all the best in your future endeavours and always stay true to your heart..

havent been updating the blog for quite a few days.. was pretty busy.. right. everyone probably knows tt i'm jus lazy to update..

anyway... the past week was great.. managed to get 2 tix for NDP.. parade was good.. but i guess the main attraction still has to be the fireworks.. 56seconds of pure ecstacy.. wOo.. gorgeous.
and this year being the last year tt the NDP will be held in the National Stadium.. it's makes it all even more sentimental... Kallang Wave..Malaysia Cup... Michael Jackson Concerts... so much more.. kinda sad tt it's gonna be rebuilt... a new makeover... will it lose it charm?

met up with emily, mishelle and marvina on wednesday.. been long since we all sat down and have a good meal together.. we had fantastic french cuisine for dinner.. the steak was grilled to prefection.. and desserts were simply tres bien! mama mia... anyway after dinner we were all so full so we went over to the swan lake at the botanical gardens... such a romantic place at night.. with the dim lights and cool evening breeze brushing against urr face... it was just so lovely... but on the other hand... think emily felt tt it was pretty scary.. hahah.. the rustling of the leaves and the swaying shadows cast upon the pavement.. imaginations just go wildd... but yea... it's a nice place to have a stroll after a meal...

14th August.. day of surprises.. met up with some of my secondary school pals for street soccer over at toa payoh... and just gotta know tt one of my classmate is actually married... and his son is already 1 yr old. gosh... to think tt he was one of cleo's most eligible bachelor last year... hmm.. father at 19? god bless tt dude...
anywayy.. rachel's birthday.. wOoohoo... once again happy 21st birthday baby.. :) thanks for having us over... hope u enjoyed urself as much as we did... may all your wishes and hairy ang-moh frankensteins come ur way soon...

went over to my uncle's durian plantatn at segamat, JB y'day. wOo. d24 never tasted so good. and it was only Rm6/kg. 4 to 5 times cheaper than s'pore man. brought back 70kgs of durians and a gunny sack of mangosteen for my realtives.. amazing eh.. :)

just finished watching my taiwanese drama vcds. some drama serial tt i chanced upon in town... starring vanness wu of F4 and hebe of S.H.I.T....hmm..was kinda draggy at first but the last episode kinda made up for it... *smiles*

yes.. ur eyes are not playing tricks on you.. i watch taiwanese drama serials... and i understand chinese. thank you.. *smiles*.. but hey.. some of them are seriously quite good u know.. meteor garden..say yes enterprise..(the only 2 tt i've watched so far) haha... and the list goes on..

btw.. singaporean guys out there, go get ur pen and notepad ready before u watch those vcds... those cheezy pick up lines will certainly come in handy in time to come... good old cheezy script.. so wad more can u ask for?!

and towards the end of the dinner.. i came to a conclusion tt we're definitely gonna miss pj's condo @ pine grove a lot.. it's our been our gathering place since the start of poly.. we would always meet up there.. to do our projects.. to dine.. to prepare for exams.. to lao yu-sheng, etc..

east coast park

Just came back from east coast park. Went cycling and kite flying with PJ, emi and xinyan today. Was having a great time there and all of a sudden, a huge storm cloud was moving in quick so we had to bring the kites back in but the wind was way too strong and unpredictable and it blew our kites right in to water and there goes our delicate paper kites.. and we had to cycle to the nearest shelter to seek cover but damn it! god knows why it's built sooo darn far(but it was fun cycling in the rain..) hahah..

Had a fulfilling 10course dim sum dinner at aljunied.. hahah.. and after tt we stil had a lil space for moreee.. so we walked down to geylang for durians! wOoOOo!! i tell you the durians weree shioook! but it aint a good place to eat durians when u're the only guy in the group. 2 different durians uncles said to me.. "woah! Xiao di! Ni yi ge ren dai san ke nue ren ar! Woah! Bay pai hor!" (Woah Boy! u 1person bring 3girls! Woah! Not Bad eh!) *with tt cheekopeh evil smile*... looks as if I'm bringing 3 china girls around.. whahah...

well... on my way back in the cab it just hit upon me tt whenever you take a taxi, you have to talk to the taxi driver.. not because you are trying to be the saint who doesn't treat taxi drivers like autopilot machines.. but they have just soo much to say and soo much to share.. not only do you get the latest traffic updates, best eating spots ard town and remedies for stomach aches and flu but also you get to hear bout the hottest political issues amongst the taxi cartel. they're simply the greatest critics.

And sometimes when you're in luck, you might get to hear bout their life stories, and sometimes they will listen to yours.

But the best thing is, this taxi driver is nt over ambitious and is able to lead a simple yet happy life That is why sometimes I truly believe that everybody must become a taxi driver someday. It's like a pilgrimage. Become the wise hermit on wheels.
